IMMACULATA, Pa.- On a warm and sunny April afternoon the No. 4 Immaculata University women's lacrosse team (10-7) opened up their CSAC postseason schedule hosting the No. 5 Notre Dame of Maryland Gators (5-8), and for the fifth consecutive year, the Mighty Macs advanced to the CSAC Semifinals, this time with a 17-5 victory over the Gators. The Macs will now travel to No. 1 Cabrini on Wednesday with a spot in the CSAC Championship on the line.
The Macs had 10 different goal scorers on the day, led by a four apiece from juniors
Hannah Verrecchia and
Nicole Dominick (three assists). Dominick joined the 100-point club here at Immaculata with her first goal of the day. Junior
Olivia Carter was the only other multi-goal scorer with two, while freshman
Layne Kennedy, senior
Meredith Katona, and junior
Rosemarie Reitman all had one goal and two assists. Sophomore
Jackie Wood, junior
Brittany Whaley, freshman
Molly Gallagher, and sophomore
Amanda Maher all scored one goal. Katona led the team with six groundballs, and tied senior
Bridget Polansky with a team-high three caused turnovers.
In the first half, the Gators opened up the scoring just over one minute in when Megan Morales found the back of the net to give the Gators the early 1-0 lead. The Macs would answer back just 30 seconds later when Carter took an assist from Dominick to tie the score at 1-1. The Gators would add one more with 26:52 left in the half. The Macs would then go on a 3-0 run with two goals from Verrecchia, and a goal from Whaley. The Gators would answer back one more time with 18:45 left in the half as Morales scored her second goal of the day to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Macs. This is as close as the score would get as the Macs offense would explode for a 9-0 run with goals from seven different Mighty Macs including three from Dominick, and single goals from Reitman, Kennedy, Verrecchia, Carter, Maher, and Gallagher. This outburst would give the Macs a commanding 13-3 lead heading to the half.
In the second half the run continued as the Macs had a 3-0 spurt to start the half with goals from Verrecchia, Dominick, and Katona to make the score 16-3. The Gators would answer back with another goal to make the score 16-4 before Wood added a goal from Kennedy to stretch the lead to 17-4. The Gators would add would one more off a free position with 5:22 left to make the final score 17-5.

Emily Schumann had a strong day in net making six saves in the victory.
In the other quarterfinal Neumann defeated Keystone to secure a date with the two seed Marywood Pacers on Wednesday afternoon. The winner of the two semifinals will meet on Saturday, May 6
th for the title game hosted by the highest remaining seed.
