Much like the first game against Neumann that the Macs lost 15-10, they started the game playing very well. Jakavick, Lopez, and Dabritz scored goals within 51 seconds of each other to put IU in front 3-0 just 2:02 into the game, leading to a Neumann timeout. Following two consecutive goals from the Knights, IU righted the ship with another goal each from Jakavick and Lopez to lead 5-2 at the midway point of the first half.
Â
The two teams would exchange three goals apiece in the final 15 minutes of the half to send the game to the locker room with the Macs in front 8-5. After Lapp scored the first, Lopez scored the final two Immaculata goals for her third and fourth of the half. She got the final tally of the first half with 17 seconds to go as the Mighty Macs took advantage of a man-up situation.
Â
The Mighty Macs kept going to start the second half, as Lapp converted a pass from Jakavick to grow their lead to its largest of the game at 9-5. IU would then go scoreless for a little more than 12 minutes and Neumann took advantage with four goals to tie the game at 9-9.
Â
The Macs responded with the fifth goal of the day from Lopez to briefly take the 10-9 lead, but Neumann would take the lead for good with four consecutive goals over the next seven minutes and took a 13-10 lead.
Â
Neill scored on a helper from Lopez to cut the deficit back to two goals, but the Knights scored three straight to put the game away and eliminate the Mighty Macs from the CSAC postseason.
Â
Despite the loss, Immaculata tied a program-record with 11 wins this season.
Â
Neumann will advance to the CSAC Championship on Saturday to play No. 1 Cabrini.
