ASTON, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's cross country team was the recipient of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) 2014 3-D award, as announced by the commissioner's office Monday. The 3-D Awardhonors the teams from each sport that best exemplified the NCAA Division-III principles of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate".
The 3-D Award was developed prior to the 2011 academic year by the CSAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following each conference contest, participating teams were asked to evaluate their opponents based on the three aforementioned Division-III principles, giving a rating of 1-10 in each "D" category.
"For the fourth year in a row, we are extremely pleased with the reception of the 3-D award among our conference's student-athletes," said CSAC Commissioner Jennifer Dubow. "The fact that all voting is conducted by fellow student-athletes should make it even that much more meaningful for all of the winners. The conference commends the fall 3-D winners, and thanks them for their commitment to upholding the principles of NCAA Division-III."
It is the first time the women's cross country squad has been honored with the CSAC 3-D Award.
The Mighty Macs placed third at the 2014 CSAC Championship. It marked the highest finish in the conference championship meet for Immaculata since the 2000 season, when it came in second at the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship.
