Men's Lacrosse Concludes Season In CSAC Semifinals

RADNOR, Pa.
– The fourth-seeded Immaculata University Mighty Macs lost their Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament men's lacrosse semifinal to the No. 1 seed Cabrini College Cavaliers, 23-3, on Tuesday afternoon.

Immaculata scored three second-quarter goals to trail 8-3 at halftime. Mike Boyd scored the first tally of the game for the Mighty Macs with 7:30 remaining in the opening half, cutting the Cavaliers' lead to 6-1. Following Cabrini's goal at 7:22, Chaz Gorman scored his first goal as a Mighty Macs at the 7:15 mark, making the score 7-2. Joey Shallow scored on a pass from Mike Nesci 3:29 before halftime, and it was the final goal of the half.

Immaculata goalkeeper Jon Diodati made 15 saves during the game. Gorman won 11 face-offs and picked up a team-leading six ground balls. Jim Baranello collected four ground balls and caused two Cabrini turnovers.

The Cavaliers scored four goals in each the first and second quarters. Cabrini added six more tallies in the third, and scored nine in the final quarter of play.

Paul Skulski was Cabrini's points leader with two goals and three assists for five points. Joe Arrell led the Cavaliers with three goals and added one assist. Erick Zarzecki played the first 48 minutes in goal for the Cavaliers making five saves. Steve Oppenheimer made two saves in goal during the final 12 minutes.

Immaculata ends the season 6-9 overall. Cabrini advances to the CSAC Tournament championship game on Saturday where the Cavaliers will face either Marywood or Gwynedd-Mercy.
