IMMACULATA, Pa.
– The Immaculata University women’s basketball squad announced its 2010-11 schedule on Friday, which once again features plenty of challenging fixtures for the Mighty Macs. Immaculata seeks to return to the conference tournament in 2011, after advancing to the conference semifinals as the sixth seed.

Home dates with Penn State Berks, Rutgers-Camden, California Tech, Haverford and Alvernia highlight the Mighty Macs’ non-conference slate. Immaculata will also take part in tournament play at Swarthmore, in addition to road dates at Delaware Valley and Elizabethtown.

Immaculata will open the season with a home contest against Penn State Berks, who reached the NCAA Division III Tournament last season, on Wednesday, Nov. 17. It marks the first time since the 1993-94 season that the Mighty Macs have opened the season with a home date.

Up next for the Mighty Macs will be the Swarthmore Tournament. The four-team format pits Immaculata against Shenandoah on Friday night, Nov. 20, with Swarthmore vs. Misericordia to follow. The winners of these two contests meet Sunday afternoon for the championship right after the consolation game that same day.

Then it’s back home for a game against Rutgers-Camden on Nov. 23 before the team breaks for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Mighty Macs return from the short respite to usher in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on the road against conference champion and NCAA participant from a season ago, Neumann, on Monday, Nov. 29. Immaculata continues the string with two more league games against foes from the North Division. The Mighty Macs travel to Cedar Crest on Dec. 2 and host Centenary on Monday, Dec. 6. The Cyclones qualified for the CSAC Tournament last season as the fifth seed.

Immaculata takes a rest from CSAC action until after the new year begins, playing four consecutive non-conference tilts. The Mighty Macs head to Doylestown, Pa., to take on Delaware Valley on Dec. 8 and host California Tech on Sunday, Dec. 19 to wind down the 2010 portion of the slate.

The Mighty Macs pick things back up on Jan. 6 when they travel to Elizabethtown. Immaculata ends the spurt of four-straight non-league games at home on Saturday, Jan. 8 hosting Haverford.

Immaculata returns to conference play heading to Baptist Bible on Jan. 10, and from there, the Mighty Macs wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule by hosting Alvernia on Monday, Jan. 17.

Immaculata hosts two straight contests against league foes in Cabrini and Philadelphia Biblical on Jan. 20 and 22, respectively.  The Mighty Macs then hit the road for two straight contests at Rosemont on Jan. 24 and Gwynedd-Mercy on Jan. 27.

The Mighty Macs conclude the month of January with Marywood, who Immaculata defeated in the CSAC quarterfinals last season, on Saturday, Jan. 29, and the College of Notre Dame on Monday, Jan. 31.

Immaculata begins the month of February with its second time through the CSAC South Division opponents. Immaculata makes the short trip to Cabrini on Feb. 3, before beginning its string of three straight home games to close out the home regular-season slate.

The Mighty Macs begin the run with Rosemont on Saturday, Feb. 5. Immaculata then faces the top two teams from the conference a season ago in Neumann on Monday, Feb. 7, and Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, Feb. 12. The contest opposite the Griffins also marks “Senior Day” for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata makes its final regular-season road trip on Feb. 14 and 17, when it travels to Keystone and the College of Notre Dame, respectively.

The 2011 CSAC Tournament begins on Monday, Feb. 21 with the third- and fourth-seeded teams hosting quarterfinal matchups. The semifinals are Wednesday, Feb. 23, and the league will crown its conference champion on Saturday, Feb. 26.
