Golf Second, Eckert Wins Medalist Honors

WILMINGTON, Del. - Immaculata University's golf team placed in a tie for second out of 10 teams at the Widener Invitational while freshman Tim Eckert brought home individual medalist honors for the Mighty Macs.

As a team, Immaculata shot a 322, tying with Villanova for second place on the par 70, 6,451-yard Brandywine Country Club course. Swarthmore won the team title with a composite score of 309. The Mighty Macs finished ahead of four CSAC opponents in the field, Cabrini (330), Neumann (332), Philadelphia Biblical (347) and Baptist Bible (369).

Eckert finished with a round of 72, two strokes ahead of second-placed finishers Kyle Krainock of Swarthmore and Bret McGaughey from Villanova.

Brennen McNichol was the Mighty Macs' next finisher with a round of 81 for 11th place. Todd Boisvert carded a round of 84, tying him for 19th. Sean Rowan fired an 85, putting him in a four-way tie for 27th, and Zach Robie was one stroke back with an 86.

Immaculata has its final tune-up for the CSAC Championships this upcoming weekend on Thursday afternoon when it heads to the Alvernia Invitational.
