Immaculata Men's Lacrosse Drops Opener At Kean, 13-2

UNION, N.J. – Immaculata fell in its season opener at Kean Wednesday night, 13-2.
Andrew Sim made 18 saves in goal for the Mighty Macs (0-1) after facing 46 Kean shots. Sim also lead Immaculata with eight ground balls. Dante Tuscai and Tom Hartney each notched goals for Immaculata, while Joe Keller recorded one assist.
Kean (2-1) opened the scoring four minutes into the game, and the Cougars scored again with 1:40 left in the quarter to lead 2-0 at the end of the opening quarter.
The Mighty Macs got on the board with Tuscai’s goal on a feed from Keller midway through the second, and Hartney scored with just 1:34 remaining, as the Cougars took a 6-2 lead into halftime.
Kean added four goals in the third and three goals in the fourth quarter to pull away with the win.
Kean was lead by C.J. Gannon’s six points on two goals and four assists, while Scott Leathem scored a game-high three goals. Kean goalkeeper John Gesumaria finished with five saves.
The Cougars held a 46-13 advantage in shots and won 12 of 19 faceoffs.
Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, March 6 traveling to Elizabethtown for a 1 p.m. start.
