IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University women’s basketball junior forward Chelsea McTigue has been selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Third Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, February 4, 2010.
To be nominated for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and be a starter or significant reserve on the team with at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average.
An Exercise Science major, McTigue carries an impressive 3.71 GPA at Immaculata. She was selected to the 2009 spring CSAC all-academic team and earned the Dean’s List during the fall 2009.
She has experienced similar success on the basketball court, leading Immaculata to a 12-8 overall and 6-5 mark in conference play this season. McTigue has started 17 games this season and is averaging 33.2 minutes per contest. McTigue leads the team in both scoring (16.9 ppg) and field goal percentage (.500) while listing second on the team in rebounding (7.2) and third in assists (1.8). She has been recognized by the CSAC three times this season, twice as its player of the week and once on the weekly honor roll.
It marks the first time McTigue has been recognized on the academic all-district team. McTigue is one of three players from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) on an all-district squad. Cedar Crest’s Lizzy Sunderhaus was on the first team while Jen Vasta of Centenary joined McTigue on the third team.
