ASTON, Pa. - Melissa Fetter from the Immaculata softball team was honored by the Colonial States Athletic Conference on Wednesday when the conference announced its all-league teams. Fetter, who has helped guide Immaculata to the championship weekend of the CSAC Tournament, was chosen as a honorable mention selection.
The Springfield, Pa., native has split time this season between the pitching circle and the outfield. On the mound, she has an overall record of 10-7, including three shutouts, and an ERA of 3.38, lowest on the team. She has allowed 104 hits for 64 runs, 46 earned, across 95.1 innings of work in 17 appearances. She has struck out 75 batters and has walked 48.
At the plate, the Mighty Macs' senior has been equally impressive with a .389 batting average, second-highest on the squad. She leads the team in both doubles (14) and triples (4). Overall, she has 37 hits, 22 RBI and has scored 30 runs. She has tallied 11 multiple hit games this season, and has hit safely in 22, games, including a nine-game hitting streak.
Fetter was honored twice by the CSAC during the season with weekly awards, being names the CSAC Player of the Week on April 9, and she followed that up with pitcher weekly honor roll recognition on April 20.
Senior Valerie Rutt-Guerriere was selected as the CSAC Sportsmanship Award recipient. Rutt-Guerriere is third on the squad with a .372 batting average and has driven in 17 runs. She has also made 16 appearances for the Mighty Macs in the circle with a reocrd of 6-9 and a 6.23 ERA.
Immaculata continues its quest for the CSAC championship on Saturday, taking on No. 1 seed Neumann at 12 p.m.
